According to reports, the Pirates have claimed a player off waivers from the Houston Astros.
Outfielder/first baseman Trey Cabbage is slashing .209/.245/.331 over two seasons.
He played in 22 games with the Los Angeles Angels in 2023 and 45 games with the Astros last season.
He has 15 career RBI, two home runs, two stolen bases and 60 strikeouts over 139 at bats.
The 27-year-old isn’t a long-term solution for the Pirates at first base, but can add a little bit of depth.
Sports anchor Ari Alexander with KPRC in Houston, who first reported the move, explains Cabbage’s upside.
