PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Pirates signed free agent Yoshi Tsutsugo to a Major League contract on Monday, and announced that John Nogowski has been designated for assignment.
Tsutsugo spent the majority of the 2021 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City where he hit .257 (38-for-148) with seven doubles, 10 home runs, 32 RBI, a .361 on-base percentage, .507 slugging percentage and .868 OPS in 43 games.
The 29-year-old was a member of Tampa Bay's Opening Day roster before being designated for assignment on May 11. He was acquired by the Dodgers on May 15 and played 12 games before being placed on the injured list on June 9 for a right calf strain.
He was then outrighted off Los Angeles' roster on July 7 and released Saturday.
