The Pirates have made a trade for another bat.
Pittsburgh has made a deal with Boston for 25-year-old infielder/outfielder Enmanuel Valdez.
The Red Sox get minor league right-hand pitcher Joe Vogatsky.
The left-handed Valdez made the Red Sox Opening Day roster last season, appearing in 76 games last season. He batted .214 last season over 223 plate appearances.
He had 43 hits, 12 doubles, six home runs, 28 RBI and an OPS of .633.
Valdez made 56 starts at second, one start third and made one appearance in left field.
He also placed in 50 games with Triple-A Worcester last season.
The Pirates have 37 players on their 40-man roster.
Vogatsky was drafted by the Pirates this past year out of James Madison.
He was taken 564th overall in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft and was assigned to the Pirates’ Florida Complex League
