Pirates prospect one triple shy of cycle

Pirates prospect Sammy Siani was one triple shy of the cycle on Tuesday afternoon for the Pirates’ Low-A affiliate Bradenton Marauders.

The high-level prospect went 3-for-4 with a homerun, a ground-rule double and single during a 15-2 Marauders drubbing of the Jupiter Hammerheads. He also walked twice

The outfielder was selected by the Pirates in the 2019 draft 37th overall pick. He signed a $2.15 million deal. He played in the Gulf Coast League in 2019, batting .241 in nearly 40 games.

He missed the 2020 season, like everyone else due to the pandemic.

Siani started off the 2021 season for Bradenton struggling but has risen his batting average .35 points to .223 since the beginning of June. He also currently has an .824 OPS.
