PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - In a Sunday roster move, the Pirates recalled right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano from the team's alternate training site.
Tropeano was claimed off the Yankees waivers on August 11 despite not playing a game for the team in 2020.
Tropeano will wear No. 72 for the club.
He was originally a fifth-round pick for the Astros in the 2011 First-Player Draft, but he didn't make his playing debut until 2014.
He later moved on to the Angels for a four-year stint.
In his 39 starts and 42 career games, Tropeano has posted a 4.51 ERA.
To make room for Tropeano, the Pirates optioned another right-handed pitcher, Nick Mears.
