PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Placed on waivers by the Twins, the Pirates are signing a local player with an interesting background.
First reported by KDKA-TV’s Rich Walsh, 26-year-old Kyler Fedko chose coming home over other options after he was placed on season-ending injured reserve by Minnesota. He gets a minor-league deal with the Pirates.
There is a good chance he won’t play next season after suffering a torn ACL, LCL and MCL during a play in the outfield with the Twins AAA affiliate in St. Paul in August.
The right-handed hitting outfielder had 17 doubles, 17 home runs, 54 RBI with an .907 OPS in 75 games in AAA this season.
Fedko is the son of former WPXI sports anchor John Fedko.
