We don’t know how Andrew McCutchen is currently feeling about the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the organization is showing its gratitude toward the most important player in at least 30 years.
The Pirates posted to “X” “Famalee Forever. A simple thank you isn’t enough, but for now, best of luck in Texas, Cutch.”
McCutchen signed a minor league deal with the Rangers this week, ensuring that he wouldn’t return to Pittsburgh for another season.
The Pirates made several moves to help improve their roster in 2026, and McCutchen wasn’t a part of that equation.
The Fan Morning show discussed the situation on Friday morning and Crowley and Dorin both said that neither side is to blame. The Pirates did what was best for them to win this season and Cutch is doing what he needs to do.
12 of his 17 seasons in the MLB have been with the Pirates, including the past three.
Cutch tweeted a quick video of showing him walking away from a toy horse while wearing a cowboy hat, indicating his move to Texas.
If McCutchen makes the Rangers roster, the Pirates head to Texas for a three-game series in late April.
