The Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox have been rumored landing spots for a trade involving Pirates All-Star second baseman Adam Frazier. You can now add the Pirates’ next opponent, New York Mets, to that list.
Audacy baseball insider Jon Heyman said MLB Network Thursday that Frazier, “is surely gone because he is a sell-high candidate.”
Heyman praised the Pirates for not dealing him sooner because now his value is at an all-time high.
“They made the right move to hold on to him and they should be able to get a haul for him,” said Heyman.
While Heyman says the Mets would have to make some adjustments to their lineup to accommodate Frazier but it could be done, with Frazier’s fielding versatility.
The Mets also have enough prospects to make a deal with Pittsburgh including, catcher Francisco Alvarez, short stop Ronny Mauricio and third baseman Brett Baty just to name a few.
Heyman adds the White Sox would be the perfect fit for Frazier. The problem is, their farm system is likely not strong enough for the price the Pirates are asking.
Frazier continues to be a hitting machine with a .326 batting average, 109 hits, 28 RBI and an OPS of .857.
