Report: Pirates try to lure Kyle Schwarber with big 4-year deal

According to a report, the Pirates have made a big-money offer to try and lure a top free agent to sign in Pittsburgh.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Pirates have offered Kyle Schwarber a four-year deal that is likely worth over $100 million.

The 2nd place finisher to the National League MVP this past season led the N.L. with 56 home runs and the entire MLB in RBI with 132 with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 32-year-old also played in all 162 games, hitting. 240.

The biggest issues for the Pirates last season was offense and getting the top hitter on the free agent market would be a franchise-altering move.

So much so, that 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi has offered 10 of his followers on “X” $100 if Schwarber signs with Pittsburgh.

To date, the Pirates’ biggest free agent deal in history is the three-year, $39 million contract pitcher Francisco Liriano signed in 2014.
