Sources: Yankees and Pirates in talks for closer David Bednar

According to MLB reporter Mark Feinsand, Bednar is the “top option” for the Mars native.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal says the Pirates are also talking with other teams about a deal for Bednar and that if the Bucs to trade the 30-year-old to New York, it won’t be for top prospect, outfielder Spencer Jones.

Audacy MLB Insider Jon Heyman says that Jones is off the table, unless he’s part of a package that includes Paul Skenes, something that is NOT happening.

93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi talked about who could come back in a deal for Bednar.

“Name to watch: Yankees catcher prospect Rafael Flores. NY’s 8th ranked prospect,” said Poni. “.279 16 HR 60 RBI at Triple-A. Ready to play now.”

A trade for Bednar is expected to come at a high price, with the closer pitching some of the best baseball of his career lately.
