Hounds take down another MLS team to advance in U.S. Cup

Riverhounds SC take down Columbus Crew 1-0

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC may be a member of the USL but they’ve developed a knack for taking own Major League Soccer teams.

A record number of fans watched the Hounds beat the Columbus Crew 1-0 with the only goal from Albert Dikwa to advance to the round of eight.

Goalkeeper Jahmali White made three saves, recording his fourth shutout of the season in all play and the Hounds have yet to give up a goal during the Lamar Hunt U.S.
Open Cup.

6,107 people were on hand at Highmark Stadium to watch the victory

Their next game in the Open Cup is June 6 or 7 against Cincinnati FC in the Quarterfinals.

Cincy eliminated the Hounds from 2022’s cup.

The Riverhounds won their first match in the cup earlier this month against the New England Revolution, another MLS team, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The Hounds resume USL Championship play this Sunday when they take on Loudon United in Virginia.

The Hounds are 5-4-1 overall in the USL Championship League.
