PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds goalkeeper Danny Vitiello was awarded the USL Championship Golden Glove on Wednesday.
The award is bestowed upon the goalkeeper with the lowest goals against average metric (GAA).
Vitiello played in eight matches during the season and posted a .778 save percentage and a league-best .50 GAA.
Vitello’s .50 GAA was also a club record.
This is the first time in Riverhounds history that its goalkeeper has won the Golden Glove award.
Vitiello has started the last six games for the Riverhounds and did not allow a goal in four of them.
Vitiello has five clean sheets this season.
Vitiello made his first Riverhounds start and professional debut on July 26 this year against the New York Red Bulls II.
Moving forward, the Riverhounds take on Louisville City FC at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 at Lynn Family Stadium for the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
