A new survey says Pittsburgh is the second-best sports city in the United States, behind only New York City.
The Sports Business Journal, along with CivicScience, conducted a Sports Consumer Insights survey to see what Americans really think about sports.
VisitPITTSBURGH’s President and CEO Jerad Bachar told the Sports Business Journal that Pittsburgh’s sports culture “far exceeds its size.”
Football is ranked as America's sport with 36 percent of survey respondents choosing it.
Baseball was next at 25 percent, followed by basketball with 8 percent.
New York topped the best sports cities list with 20 percent of the vote, followed by Pittsburgh with 16 percent of the vote.
And the Steelers earned third place as America's team with 14 percent support.
The New York Yankees edged out the Dallas Cowboys for the top spot in that category.
