Adam "Pacman" Jones has no love lost for the Steelers.
In a recent interview on the "Club Shay Shay" podcast with Shannon Sharpe, the former Bengals cornerback lambasted the Steelers as the dirtiest team in the NFL.
In an effort to defend notorious ex-teammate Vontaze Burfict, who racked up $4.12 million in fines during his career, Jones put the onus on Pittsburgh for Burfict's dirty play.
"Most of the games that Vontaze got in trouble was, what games? What team [were] we playing?," Jones said.
When Sharpe answered the rhetorical question, Jones went all in.
"Those [expletives] were the dirtiest team in the league," he said. "They had (Maurkice) Pouncey. They had — what was that other center's name? (Richie) Incognito?" (Incognito never played for the Steelers.)
The Steelers and Bengals played some brutal games last decade, including an infamous Monday night contest in which linebacker Ryan Shazier sustained a spinal contusion following a head-on tackle.
In the 2015 playoffs, Burfict delivered a wicked headshot on Antonio Brown over the middle of the field, sending the receiver to the hospital.
Many observers, including Colin Dunlap, believe that hit changed Brown's life — sending the talented wideout into an erratic downward spiral.
"He started to be someone who was afraid everyone was out to get him, he never smiled after that all that much - he became somebody different," Dunlap said on CBS Sports Radio in 2020.
That's not how Jones remembers it, however. The former cornerback says Brown "winked" at the Bengals while he was on the ground.
That's just as believable as blaming the Steelers for Burfict's unforgivable infractions.
