The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the teams who are taking great aim at the Pro Bowl safety.

Mathieu himself said in an interview that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin called him personally to have a talk.

Despite the phone call from Tomlin, the Steelers may no longer be the front runner to land the Honey Badger.

According to 93.7 the Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi, he had “heard through the grapevine” that the Dallas Cowboys are the new favorites to sign Mathieu.

Nothing is certain and Poni went on to say that a decision isn’t soon to be made, and we may not have an answer until after the NFL Draft.

Day one of the Draft is set for April 28.

What is this “grapevine” we are hearing from, though?

Are the Cowboys truly the front runner for one of the best players in the NFL’s free agent market?

Could the timing of Poni’s tweet be convenient as it came on April 1, also known as April Fool’s Day?

Many questions remain, but they probably won’t be answered until Mathieu finds a new home.
