PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — Offensive line stalwart Maurkice Pouncey announced his retirement earlier on Friday.
And with that, Steelers president Art Rooney II released an official statement wishing well to the 11-year veteran.
"I want to thank Maurkice for his outstanding effort both on and off the field over the past 11 years. He was an amazing teammate and leader that so many looked up to throughout his playing career. Congratulations on your retirement, Maurkice. I wish you and your family much success," Rooney said.
The Steelers drafted Pouncey in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and he spent his entire career in Pittsburgh.
Pouncey made nine Pro Bowls and achieved All-Pro honors on five occasions.
The longtime center had also been named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
