Big Ben says no one in his camp talked to anyone about diet

The reports that Ben Roethlisberger was/is on a Tom Brady-like diet have been greatly exaggerated, according to the Steelers quarterback.

Speaking after the first Training Camp practice at the Steelers UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday, Roethlisberger says he doesn’t know where the reports came from.

Ryan Burr, who has worked for NBC Sports, ESPN and Fox Sports Pittsburgh (now AT&T Sportsnet) reported last week that someone in Roethlisberger’s camp told him that the QB was focused on weight loss.

But Roethlisberger says, “My camp is my wife, my agent and my trainer and I know that none of them talked to the person so I’m not really sure where that information came from.”

While Roethlisberger refutes that someone with his “camp” talked to Burr, he does say that at his age of 39, he does take his offseason diet and conditioning seriously.

“You work on your diet, you work on exercise and you have to do everything you can to get yourself ready to play this game at this age and for this many years.”

Roethlisberger also had a parting shot for Burr.

“Somethings get exaggerated a little bit from golf analysts.”
