Big Ben shares his thoughts on former coach, teammates' HOF induction

Ben Roethlisberger

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) For the time being, Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is not in the Hall of Fame.

He sure will be one day, but first this weekend, multiple former teammates and a coach of Big Ben's will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Those players being Alan Faneca and Troy Polamalu, and the coach, all-time great Bill Cowher.

Roethlisberger sat down with Sirius XM NFL Radio to discuss what kind of moment it is to see those three be selected for the Hall of Fame.

"Troy was one of the greatest players I've ever seen play," Roethlisberger said.

"What an honor to play with one of the best linemen in the game," He said regarding Faneca.

Roethlisberger's words on Cowher though were the main focus of the future Hall of Famer's answer.

Cowher was Roethlisberger's first coach in the NFL and has a lot to do with his early success including each of their first Super Bowl victories.

"It's so humbling to have played for a Hall of Fame coach. What he meant and means to the city of Pittsburgh, to the Steelers… It was an honor to play for him."

Cowher is the Steelers second winningest coach in Steelers history behind the man he took over for in 1992, Chuck Noll.

Cowher piled up 149 wins and Noll sits at 193.

That second place spot may be in jeopardy, however, as current coach Mike Tomlin is only four wins behind Cowher at 145.

This year, however, is all about Cowher, Polamalu, and Faneca as three more recent Steeler greats get their call for a gold jacket.

"It's really cool to have three guys that I have a really close connection to going into Canton."
