James Conner: "No one more grateful for the city of Pittsburgh than me."

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – After a month on the free agent market, news broke Tuesday that running back James Conner signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

Conner took to social media to say goodbye to the city he's known for the past 8 years.


"No one more grateful for the city of Pittsburgh than me. The last 8 years been building and molding me into the man I am today," Connor posted on Twitter. "Excited for what's ahead but truly thankful for all the love and support during my best moments and most difficult times."

He continued by giving a shout out "to everyone who represented that #30 jersey with pride and as a symbol of strength. It's all love forever."

Conner visited with the Cardinals on Monday.

Conner is coming off 721 yards, a 4.3 average, 6 touchdowns and another 215 yards on 35 receptions out of the backfield.  The Erie native named to the Pro Bowl after the 2018 seasons—215 attempts, 973 yards, 55 receptions, 497 yards with 13 combined touchdowns.

James spent the last four years playing for the Steelers, and played college football for Pitt.

Conner has been and will continue to be a symbol of strength for many in Pittsburgh and beyond for his battle back from his cancer diagnoses while a student at Pitt, showcasing his strength and will during a time of adversity.
