There are fears that rookie wide receiver Calvin Austin III may miss the remainder of the season.
Austin rejoined the team for practices a couple weeks ago, beginning his 21-day clock.
If the Steelers don't activate Austin by Wednesday, October 26, he cannot play the remainder of the season.
93.7 The Fan's Josh Rowntree says the confidence he had in Austin returning has diminished and he is "less optimistic" that Austin will play at all this season.
Only able to speculate, Rowntree says it's possible Austin suffered a setback in his recovery.
The speedy wide receiver, who was taken in the fourth-round of this past April's draft suffered a foot injury the day before the Steelers first preseason game.
"I think a lot of people were really looking forward to seeing him play and then all of the sudden he's not out there and we look down and he's just kinda sitting there on the bench and then we haven't really been able to see him," said Rowntree.
There was excitement to see what Austin could do, but we may have to wait until 2023 to see what Austin can add to the Steelers offense.
