Davante Adams was never coming to the Steelers

Raiders WR traded to New York Jets for 3rd-round pick

The perceived Davante Adams sweepstakes is over with the Las Vegas Raiders trading the star wide receiver to the New York Jets.

Adams will be reunited with his former quarterback in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers.

The Raiders will reportedly get a conditional 3rd-round pick that can turn into a 2nd (depending on performance).

Adams has been dealing with a hamstring injury. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that he is in the Jets’ building and will have a physical.

“He had been dealing with a hamstring injury but is in a good place,” said Rapoport.

The Steelers were one of the teams that were reportedly in talks to acquire Adams.

If it cost a 3rd-round pick to get Adams, why didn’t the Steelers sweeten the deal and maybe offer a sure 2nd-rounder?

Because, it was always going to be New York.

Adams wanted to be reunited with Rodgers and if the Raiders were going to deal him, it seems like New York was the only real destination.

Maybe more important that that, the Jets are taking over Adams’ entire contract.

One that pays him over $35.6 million over the next two seasons and delivers a $26.25 cap hit.
