PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Back-to-back practices now for Steelers first-round pick Derrick Harmon as he went through a second limited practice on the South Side Thursday. It does increase his odds to be able to make his NFL debut Sunday at New England with one practice left.
Harmon could be a boost to that group that lost Isaiahh Loudermilk to injured reserve this week.
“Another capable body that is similar to a Loudermilk build,” said Steelers captain Cam Heyward of Harmon. “One of those 3-4 ends that set the line of scrimmage. Plays with good hands, love the way he is heavy-handed in the run game.”
Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said they would be judicious with his snaps and try to work him back. Austin said he will likely lack some football conditioning and shape.
Harmon has said he’s been studying and is ready to play in his first game and however much they want to play him.
