PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Mike McCarthy says he hasn’t considered roster decisions yet with final cuts coming Sunday, although saying it’s the toughest part of being a head coach. Did he spill that they will keep four quarterbacks this year in what he said Tuesday morning?

Asked if four quarterbacks would hinder the growth of numbers three and four, McCarthy was quick to respond.

“I don’t think it would hinder it at all,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy said the quality of the four they have currently would only enhance the room, not take away from it.

“We’re not on a time restraint once the season starts, thank God,” McCarthy said. “So we are able to do more before practice, after practice, so our quarterback school component can kick up some.”

Then after years where he would only keep two quarterbacks as a head coach, McCarthy said this.

“I’d have six quarterbacks in the building if it worked,” McCarthy said.

“I think it would be very healthy for the quarterback room with four quarterbacks.”

McCarthy did not disclose the quarterback rotation for Thursday night in Buffalo.

It’s also important to note, the Steelers head coach did not distinguish whether he would keep four quarterbacks on the active 53-man roster, or have four quarterbacks including the practice squad.
