It was surprising at the beginning of the week when Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin was optimistic that safety Minkah Fitzpatrick would be available for the team’s upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Fitzpatrick told reporters he isn’t sure if he will be able to play on Sunday.
“I’m going to find out soon,” said Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick added the issue is the incision is located, a muscle where the appendix was taken out.
Fitzpatrick was seen going through drills on Thursday during Steelers practice.
“Reports regarding Minkah and his inclusion this week are really positive, I know that’s he’s already been here and run today,” said Tomlin during his weekly press conference.
Tomlin added that Fitzpatrick wanted to play Sunday after undergoing an appendectomy on Saturday.
He said he wasn’t feeling well after walk-throughs, preparing for the New Orleans Saints, when it was found he needed the surgery after it was revealed he was dealing with appendicitis.
An appendectomy usually takes multiple weeks for recovery, so if Fitzpatrick is able to play it will be a fast recovery.
Fitzpatrick didn’t participate in practice on Wednesday.
