Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth is going into his second year with Pittsburgh and the Penn State alum is excited to have quarterback Kenny Pickett, even if he's a Pitt grad.

Speaking after OTA practice, Freiermuth said, "Kenny's a great guy, but I mean I always give him crap because he's never beaten Penn State before."

"I have no hard feelings toward him, he never beat my alma mater so I'm good," added Freiermuth.

He also said he played against Pickett twice during the brief renewed Keystone Classic between Pitt and Penn State from 2016 to 2019.

"We played two years, I think we beat them 51-6 here [Heinz Field] and then 17-3 at my place [Beaver Stadium]," said Freiermuth with a smile on his face pretending he didn't know the exact scores.  And his memory is pretty good. That 2019 game was 17-10 in favor of the Nittany Lions.

Pitt won the first game of the renewed rivalry, 41-39 at Heinz Field, but then dropped the next three.

There are currently no plans for the two teams to play each other for the foreseeable future.

Penn State leads the all-time series 53-43-4.
