PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The second installment of Ben Roethlisberger’s documentary series “Bigger Than Ben” has been released.
The second part entitled “Bigger Motivation” picks up where the first left off with Roethlisberger’s injury and his surgery.
Dr. Neal Elattrache, who performed the elbow surgery, said to his knowledge he had never heard of an injury to a quarterback like Roethlisberger and said it was “one of the bigger tears I ever heard of.”
The second part shows a lot of intimate family footage shot by Roethlisberger and his wife Ashley.
One of the more entertaining parts of the episode is when team doctor James Bradley removes Roethlisberger’s stitches.
During the painful procedure Dr. Bradley warned Ben multiple times it was going to hurt.
“I think you like causing me pain,” Roethlisberger joked.
“It was a different kind of pain, it literally just felt like he was just pulling for a minute nonstop.”
Bradley says that Roethlisberger has seen him over 220 times for various reasons and knows he’ll bounce back in 2020.
Ben also talks about the many motivations he has returning, including standing up on the podium at the end of a Super Bowl lifting up another Lombardi with his three kids joining him.
“These team is as much about each other as any team I’ve been a part of,” said Roethlisberger.
