With 93.7 The Fan debuting the 2021-22 version of the "Here We Go" Steelers fight song, it's officially playoff season, but the creator of the song, Roger Wood, tells the Fan Morning Show it almost didn't happen this year.
Wood says he thought the Raiders/Chargers game was going to end in a tie.
He adds he usually waits until the first or second week of December to get the song ready for the new year, if the Steelers were doing well, but this year, they're playoff chances were pretty slim.
So how long does it take him to get everything together? Days? Weeks?
"Each year when I decide to do it I get everybody's names and then I can mix it around so it rhymes and it flows and . . . it usually takes me about an hour to get it together," said Wood.
Devin Bush's name is absent from the song this year and Wood diplomatically said, "It was just we wanted to add somebody else, so we'll put it that way."
The song has been a playoff staple since 1994 and Wood said it took even less time to write it the first time.
"It just popped in my head . . . like 20-30 minutes I had it all down," said Wood.
Listen to the song below and get pumped for Sunday night!
