PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – If the Steelers would have won Thursday night in Cincinnati, it would be one of the fun stories of postgame. When Pat Freiermuth scored on his 68-yard touchdown, offensive lineman Broderick Jones tackled quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“We are still joking about it,” Jones said Monday. “He was a little mad, but it’s alright. It’s football, it gets intense.”

No one was hurt, although there was fear of a 300-pound tackle tackling your 41-year-old quarterback.

“I don’t want to put him on blast, the way Broderick described it on the field versus what we saw on the video is so funny,” said Steelers offensive lineman Troy Fautanu. “We were making fun of him.”

Fautanu joked that the tackle might have been a hip drop, which is an illegal tackle in the NFL. But he also said everyone was excited and Broderick Jones always celebrates with Rodgers after scores.

“You can’t blame the guy,” Fautanu said. “It’s high emotions, in the heat of the moment he made a play. ‘Muth’ made a play scoring a touchdown. What can you say, you can’t get mad at the guy.”

Jones wouldn’t do that again, would he?

“We shall see on Sunday if he throws another touchdown, I might tackle him again,” Jones said with a smile.
