Chris Mack's Eye Opener: Bosa Back In the Nick Of Time, Cutch Done, Wilson's Pens Connections

Just In the Nick of Time

After spending the better part of the last week wondering if the Steelers may have gotten away without having to face Nick Bosa when the 49ers come to town, the news came that those wishes wouldn’t be coming true.

Bosa’s extension, beyond making him the highest paid non-QB in league history, marks the end of the holdout that would’ve kept him from playing on Sunday.

And now, we all get to find out if Dan Moore Jr.’s preseason success was a legitimate indicator of just how much he’s improved, and perhaps risen to the task of facing a challenge like Bosa.

Cutch’s Return Season Cut Down

With the news that Andrew McCutchen’s Achilles tendon is partially torn and he’ll be out for the final 22 games of the regular season, Pirates fans have to undoubtedly be disappointed that they won’t get to see Cutch’s 300th home run this year.

The obvious question becomes “Will McCutchen be invited back for the ’24 season?”

If the answer isn’t a resounding “Yes,” then shame on the Pirates.

Mr. Wilson

After spending less than 18 months away from the league due to health issues, Former San Jose Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson is joining the Penguins.

A decades-long veteran of the NHL, Wilson’s connections to the organization extend both on- and off-the-ice.

So not only does he have an assist on the head coach’s first career goal, he’s also the man who traded with Ottawa for Erik Karlsson in 2018.
