Is Poni putting undue pressure on Kenny Pickett?

The Morning Show debates if Fillipponi is hyping the Steelers QB too much

The Fan's Andrew Fillipponi has been one of the biggest supporters of Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Poni has continued to build Pickett up on The PM Team and on Twitter talking about how #8 will be a future Hall of Famer and other rhetoric.

Colin Dunlap, of The Fan Morning Show has a question. He wants to know if the hype coming from Poni is helping Pickett.

"I don't know how much is sensationalism, I don't know how much he feels as if he backs his opinion with fact and feels this way in his heart…do you think that the way that Andrew . . . and that show . . . how much they have built and build and built him up, do you think that's done Kenny Pickett favors in this town or do you think it's made it harder on him?" asked Dunlap.

"I don't think it's helped," said Chris Mack. "Expectations for a rookie quarterbacks should be realistic and they haven't been for a lot of people."

But Dorin Dickerson believes that Pickett "put himself in that position" by the way he played at Pitt, leading the Panthers to an ACC Championship and named a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Adam Crowley believes that Poni is sincere and agrees with Dickerson but does admit that Poni has a lot of pull "in forming people's opinions" in Pittsburgh.

"I'm not trying to be funny, this is a very real conversation that it may have been unfair to the athlete to have a very prominent talk show host in this town put him in, not my words, Andrew's, say he's a Hall of Famer before he took one snap and I don't know how much was in jest," said Dunlap. "I think it does put undue pressure on someone as they're trying to find their way in the NFL."
