PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It was a cat and mouse game between reporters and Steelers safety Jalen Ramsey about whether he would be able to play Sunday after suffering a hamstring injury at some point early in the Vikings game in Ireland. Officially Ramsey is listed as questionable for the game.
Ramsey said he was able to do ‘a little somethin’ and then asked about it that was a full team practice ‘I was in a little somethin’, somethin’.
Bottom line is Ramsey said he’s done a lot of rehab and recovery and as to if he’s playing against Cleveland ‘we’ll see’ was the answer.
Asked if his availability against Cleveland is impacted by the Steelers playing again Thursday at Cincinnati.
“It would depend on who you ask,” Ramsey said with a smile.
If we ask you?
“I’m being real,” Ramsey said. “If you ask me, yeah, it matters.”
Being a 10-year veteran, does he have a bigger say in whether he plays or not?
“They are still the bosses,” Ramsey said. “They are the authority. I have to listen to them just as much as they are open to hearing how I feel and listening to what I got to say. We have been having good conversations, good dialogue about how things have been progressing.”
Ramsey has an interception, nearly two, four passes defensed, 14 tackles and a quarterback hit in four games with the Steelers. His versatility presents problems and while he would be valuable against any opponent, the fact the Steelers play against Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins four days later, would seem to be a factor.
Ramsey has played in some rivalry games during his decade in the league and at Florida State. It’s his first game in the AFC North.
“I know it’s going to be intense,” Ramsey said. “I know defense is going to be on display. I know there is going to be a lot of energy, the atmosphere is going to be great, sure of that. I’ve been focusing on some other things this week.”
