Steelers free agent wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has taken a bit of a swipe at the organization he’s been a part of since joining the NFL five seasons ago.
Appearing at an event for 7-Eleven Wednesday at “The Star” the practice facility and world headquarters for the Dallas Cowboys, Smith-Schuster teased signing with the Cowboys and playing with quarterback Dak Prescott, who he called “great.”
“Catching balls from him in a facility like this, I wouldn’t mind it,” Smith-Schuster said, according to the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken.
He pointed out how nice their facilities were compared to those he’s used to in Pittsburgh.
“The Steelers are still working on trying to get out of the wooden locker rooms.”
Smith-Schuster re-signed with the Steelers for one year last offseason, choosing Pittsburgh over places like Kansas City and Baltimore.
A report last month claimed that Smith-Schuster was interested in joining the Chiefs. Now it looks like you can throw the Cowboys into the mix.
The possibility of Smith-Schuster returning to Pittsburgh will depend, in part, to who the next quarterback of the team is after Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement.
Playing in only five games before suffering a major shoulder injury, Smith-Schuster was able to return to play in Roethlisberger’s final game, a Wild Card loss to Kansas City.
He caught five balls for 26 yards and was on the field for 76 percent of the offensive snaps in that 41-21 loss.
