The first trailer for the upcoming HBO documentary about Kordell Stewart is out and features one of our very own at The Fan.
Kordell Stewart: Slash & Burn looks at the career of “Slash”, his rise to Steelers quarterback and eventual dismissal in Pittsburgh.
The trailer shows 93.7 The Fan/KDKA-TV’s own Bob Pompeani as one of the featured participants, along with former Steelers coach Bill Cowher, Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis and more.
Based on the trailer, the fallout from the false rumor that spread like wildfire before the internet around Pittsburgh, that Stewart was caught with another man engaging in lewd acts, will be a major part of the documentary.
Another topic that will be addressed in the latest instalment of the “NFL Shorts” documentaries is if Pittsburgh was ready for a Black quarterback in 1997.
“Through candid interviews with Stewart and others who witnessed his brightest and darkest moments, KORDELL STEWART / SLASH & BURN explores the personal toll of scrutiny beyond the football field while searching for the truth behind a story that followed Stewart for decades,” a release from HBO states.
Kordell Stewart: Slash& Burn debuts on Tuesday, October 27 at 9 p.m. and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
