PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) With the 2022 Senior Bowl in full swing, the Pittsburgh Steelers have boots on the ground looking for possible draft picks.
The Steelers hold the 20th pick of the NFL Draft and have lost their franchise quarterback to retirement.
The next man under center for the Steelers has been driving conversation across the fandom and many names have entered the fray.
Among those Steelers personnel in Mobile Ala. are head coach Mike Tomlin, soon to be retired general manager Kevin Colbert, offensive coordinator Matt Canada, and quarterback coach Mike Sullivan.
Having a QB coach around possible draft picks is a huge tell that the Steelers may be focusing on their future in the position.
While Pitt Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett is in Mobile hot off of a Heisman Trophy nomination, the Steelers have put a lot of their attention to another quarterback.
The Steelers have shown a lot of interest in Liberty University QB Malik Willis.
Tomlin found Willis on the field to have a conversation and requested to meet the family.
This isn’t the first time someone from the Steelers organization has met with the Willis family; GM Colbert met and congratulated the family after Liberty’s win in the LendingTree Bowl.
According to Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus, mentioned that PFF has compared Willis to former Steelers QB Kordell Stewart.
The Steelers are focused on getting a quarterback who has mobility and being mobile is what set Stewart apart from the rest of the pack.
Could Willis be heading to Pittsburgh as the 20th overall pick? Could he turn out to play like the new age Kordell Stewart?
