One former NFL executive and current NFL insider Michael Lombardi doesn’t expect much from new Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
Talking on The Fan Morning Show Friday, Lombardi said, “I’ve never been a Mitch Trubisky fan.”
“Mitchell’s a player that has to practice what he sees in the game and it’s gotta come off exactly that way. He is not a rhythmic passer. He’s never gonna be confused with Danny Marino in terms of anticipation throwing the ball,” added Lombardi.
Lombardi says he says that if Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada can’t game plan and script plays perfectly for Trubisky, it won’t work out.
He adds that Trubisky is also similar to Mason Rudolph because neither are a good rhythmic throwing and can’t participate when a play breaks down.
So if Trubisky isn’t the answer for the Steelers, in Lombardi’s mind, can they find their quarterback in the draft? No.
"With a 1st rd pick, you're saying this player will come in and by the 2nd season he will become a starter & he will become an upper echelon starter at that position. I don't think you can say that about any QB in this draft."
