McCarthy tells McAfee he's talked to Rodgers 'a number of times'

Steelers coach Mike McCarthy made his first national appearance since being hired as the Steelers new Head coach on the Pat McAfee show Friday.

During the conversation, McCarthy talked about the excitement he has to lead his hometown team.

McCarthy, who was a regular guest on the show this past football season, says he’s spoken to another former McAfee regular, Aaron Rodgers.

“I’ve spoken to Aaron a number of times,” said McCarthy.

But, he added that right now, Rodgers is decompressing and is taking some time away from football right now.

“That’s really the mindset that he’s in and that’s really about as far as our conversations have gone as far as if he’s coming back or he’s not coming back,” said McCarthy.

McCarthy also said he’s talked to former coaches Mike Tomlin and Bill Cowher.

McAfee also asked McCarthy about the famous I.C. Light that was left in the fridge for Mike Tomlin by Bill Cowher and if the outgoing coach kept the tradition alive.

"I think Mike drank those I.C. Lights," said McCarthy.
