Mike Tomlin confirms Matt Canada will stay as Steelers OC

It’s been confirmed by Mike Tomlin himself that Matt Canada will be back this season as the Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Coordinator.

Some of the base reasoning is to keep continuity for young QB Kenny Pickett who’s entering his sophomore year.

“What are you gonna do if you suck on offense this year and now you gotta screw Kenny up between years two and three? Aren’t you kind of just kicking the can down the road?” questioned Adam Crowley on The Fan Morning Show.

Another thing the organization cited in confidence of the decision going forward was that the team felt they got better in the second half due to that continuity.

But the fact of the matter is the Steelers had one of the healthiest offensive lines in all of the NFL at that time.

“What it comes down to is giving [Canada] a final chance with Kenny from April OTAs…through the season,” explained Dorin Dickerson.

Which is true because it’s known the Steelers won’t change an OC halfway through the season. The guys on the Morning Show said by week four, it should be known what the Canada out look for the season will be.

Presumably like many Steelers fans, Tomlin didn’t seem thrilled about the decision for Canada to come back either, stating “I have nothing to add” when asked about why he was chosen to stay.

Either way, Canada is going to be here next season and Pittsburgh’s going to have to root him to succeed, win or lose.
