According to one sports data website, Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin wasn't the worst coach in the NFL last season, but he was pretty dang close.
EdjSports released their NFL Coach Ranking and Coach Awards on Thursday and Tomlin came in 31st out of 32 coaches, only Giants' Joe Judge was worse.
Tomlin came in last in CCI (Offensive play-calling, specifically on critical downs) and 22nd in EPI (EdjSports Power Index).
Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur was rated the number one coach.
Tomlin did lead the Steelers into the playoffs for the second straight year, going 9-7-1, but once again lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
It should be noted that Tomlin does not call plays on offense. That is the responsibility of first-year offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who looks to be sticking around for the 2022 season.
The Steelers offensive was hampered by a combination of a poor offensive line and an aging 39-year-old quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger.
On the defensive side of the ball, an inability to stop the run hampered the Steelers, even with outstanding play from Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt.
Since taking over in 2007, Tomlin has never had a losing season as a head coach in the NFL.
