PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Already without Diontae Johnson and Cam Heyward, along with Anthony McFarland, several key Steelers missed practice on Wednesday due to injury.
The most notable of those is 2022 NFL interception leader Minkah Fitzpatrick (chest) who did not practice. He was injured in the Browns game and was taken to the hospital as a precaution to get a good look at the ailment. Another starting safety missed time on Wednesday as well, Damontae Kazee is dealing with a calf injury and didn’t practice.
Outside linebacker Markus Golden got his first Steelers sack on Monday night and was unable to go with a knee issue. Larry Ogunjobi played the entire game Monday, but was off Wednesday with his foot injury that has been troubling him for weeks.
A couple of potential players to help make up for Johnson’s absence, receiver Gunner Olszewski (concussion) and tight end Darnell Washington (knee) did not practice. Olszewski was knocked out early against Cleveland and was listed as the primary backup to Johnson. We don’t know specifics with Washington’s knee, but it was something that dates back to college and a reason some teams passed on him during the NFL Draft.
Corner Patrick Peterson and guard Isaac Seumalo got veteran days off. The Steelers have two more practices before leaving for Las Vegas.
