Najee Harris' leg injury doesn't appear to be as serious as it looked.
The Steelers running back suffered what looked like a brutal injury Sunday in the Steelers' incredible 23-20 overtime win over the Bengals Sunday. Late in the fourth quarter, Harris cut to the right on first down, and was immediately stuffed by two Bengals defenders. His leg bent backwards.
A couple of plays later, T.J. Watt exited the field with an injury of his own. He suffered a torn pectoral and could miss the rest of the season, according to multiple reports.
But the news on Harris is better. He reportedly rolled an ankle (though the Steelers are calling it a foot injury), and isn't expected to miss much time. NFL Media's Mike Giardi called the injury "not a big deal."
Harris struggled prior to the injury, rushing for just 23 yards on 10 carries. The Steelers are counting on him to be a dynamic compliment out of the backfield to a talented receiving corps.
After battling a Lisfranc Spain in his foot during training camp, there is some cause for concern with another injury around his foot. On Sunday, it looked like Harris was still missing some burst.
But at least he'll receive plenty of more chances to rebound, if the early reports on his status are accurate.
