PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers center Nate Herbig's season is over, the team putting the veteran on Reserve/Injured List after a reported shoulder injury. The team also released another five-year defensive back.
Herbig was working first-team center all offseason and into training camp until the injury before Saturday's game. Rookie second-round pick Zach Frazier will take over at center.
Corner Anthony Averett was trying to make the team has a free agent, but two different times in the last month missed practice due to injury and his contract was terminated. The 29-year-old played in 51 NFL games, last playing in 2022 with Las Vegas, previously four years with Baltimore.
Steelers signed 6'4", 240-pound defensive lineman Marcus Haynes and added 6', 230- pound linebacker Kyahva Tezino.
Haynes was with Denver his rookie season and spent time with the Texans and Browns this year before signing with the Steelers. Tezino was undrafted last year and was previously with the 49ers.
