PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) – NFL Insider John Clayton joined The PM Team for his weekly visit Tuesday, and downplayed the idea that the Pittsburgh Steelers should pursue recently cut running back Leonard Fournette.

"What you see is a guy who isn't totally motivated," John said. "Is that the guy you want in your locker room to challenge the other running backs. So I'd say right now no."

John also told the guys that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a great chance at winning the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award this season if the team has a successful season upon his return.

“I think you have to rank him pretty high, if not the No. 1 guy,” he said. “If he can come back from the elbow surgery, get this team to ten to twelve wins, then I think he’s going to be in a good spot to be able to do that … I think right now, Ben would either be in the top two or top three.”

John also discussed how the season-ending injury to Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James impacts the Steelers chances of returning to the playoffs this season in the AFC.
