An NFL insider is lighting up speculation again on the potential future of Mike Tomlin as Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But, it should be noted that Tomlin’s name is not mentioned in the report and this is purely speculation.
Josina Anderson reports that “there's is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts.”
Anderson was talking about the approaching coaching hiring season that will come after the season.
She says her league sources that are eyeing five more NFL teams with projected openings at head coach, as of where things stand today, while waiting to collect more data on a 6th team too.
Rumors of Tomlin moving on from the Steelers or being traded are nothing new.
The Chicago Bears reportedly called Art Rooney II last year about the possibility of acquiring the Steelers coach in a trade.
Rooney told KDKA’s Bob Pompeani that they weren’t interested, “so it was a pretty short conversation.”
Tomlin is currently on a deal that keeps him in Pittsburgh through at least 2027.
Tomlin’s name isn’t mentioned in Anderson’s report, but he is one of the few “longtime NFL head coaches” out there.
Another name Anderson says to watch out for considerations when it coaching carrousel time, is Bill Belichick.
