NFL trends predict Steelers will miss the playoffs

The Steelers have seen so much success in the two decades that were the Ben Roethlisberger era, but with the loss of a legend will they be able to stay afloat?

According PennStakes.com, after analyzing every team's season after losing a Top-12 QB in terms of passing yards, it's not looking promising.

The Steelers have spent the past 18 seasons with a winning record, which is two more away from the NFL record set by the Cowboys (1966-1985).

On average, they found that there was about a 3.4 decrease in number of wins. They also saw teams drop an average drop of 10.3 in terms of offensive rating.

Out of nine teams that moved on from franchise quarterbacks, only one made the playoffs the next season (Dolphins in 2000) and only two had winning records.

Though Big Ben certainly was not at his best last season, hitting career lows, it's hard to believe the tandem of Trubisky and Pickett won't put up a season much worse than that.

Right now the odds for them to make the playoffs is +330 in a tough division with the Bengals and Ravens.
