PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers starting quarterback Kenny Pickett said Wednesday he felt like he was on track with what he needed to do in returning from ankle surgery. Apparently, not enough as Pickett was inactive for the game at Seattle.

Pickett was listed as questionable on Friday after being listed as limited during practice last week. He was relegated to third-string QB on Sunday.

The second-year quarterback said the decision to play was out of his hands and it’s what the coaches and trainers say of how he looked at practice. They obviously believed he wasn’t healthy enough to return and Mitch Trubisky was the back-up quarterback on Sunday in Seattle.

Pickett left the Steelers game on December 3 against the Cardinals after going 7-10 for 70 yards. The previous week he led the Steelers to its first 400-yard game in years in a win at Cincinnati throwing for 278 yards. Trubisky replaced Pickett that day and started in losses to the Patriots and Colts. Mason Rudolph became the third starting QB of the month in a win against Cincinnati and also started against Seattle.
