Troy Polamalu is one of the greatest Steelers of all time. He’s a Hall of Famer and will be inducted into Canton in August, but he still gets nervous, especially when he does interviews.
He tells The Fan Morning Show he doesn’t do many interviews and still gets “really, really nervous.”
At 40-years-old Polamalu says he thought he would know a lot more about himself and life by now, but that isn’t the case.
“I’ll tell you this, I thought I would’ve known a lot more at age 40 than I know now,” said Polamalu.
Polamalu considers his former teammates as family and is in contact with them frequently. He believes with the way technology is with social media today, it makes it more difficult to build that bond.
With those challenges, Polamalu believes Mike Tomlin is the best coach in the NFL to at least achieve that sense of family.
“I think that’s what so great, if he’s able to communicate to these younger generations with much greater impact I think than the other coaches in the NFL.
With so much pressure on athletes now not only on the field but maybe even more so off, Polamalu knows he and he’s fellow teammates wouldn’t have been able to handle the pressures that come with that.
“These younger generations really are asked to do a lot more mature things, when I know my generation you know wasn’t even mature to handle those things and I think from our generation’s perspective, this younger generation isn’t mature to handle for example social media,” said Polamalu. “Man, I couldn’t have done it in high school, dealing with the passions and thing that I dealt with.”
