Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has been described as the most NFL ready QB coming out of this past draft, with comparisons to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

A coach who has worked with both Pickett and Burrow says that comparison is “legit.”

Speaking on the Cook & Joe Show, QB Coach and NFLPrep QB Coach Tony Racioppi says he spent four days with Burrow at the Manning’s football camp and got to know him pretty well.

“I just think the way they both throw it, they’re both better athletes than people think, they’re both accurate, they both process information so well, they’re both ultra-competitive dudes, they’re both quick processors,” said Racioppi.

Racioppi also said both of their fathers have been heavily involved in their development growing up.

Working with Pickett currently, Racioppi says that the QB is ready for a competition with Mitch Trubisky for the starting spot and if he doesn’t start in the opener, he will be ready to go when called upon.

“He’ll be ready to get better every single day and whenever his number’s called, he’ll be ready I promise you that,” said Racioppi.

Racioppi has worked with Pickett over the past six years.

Racioppi also talked about 15 NFL teams talking to him before the draft and he says Pickett’s hand size never came up.

“I was there for every ball thrown by not only him but everybody else in the competition and I don’t think there were many concerns by people,” said Racioppi.
