Pittsburgh rapping principal is back with an epic rap about the 10-0 Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dr. Margaret Starkes, the Principal at Pittsburgh Miller Pre K-5, posted her own remake of Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow”, and it may actually be better than the original, but don’t tell Wiz that.
Dr. Starkes has also rapped in the past about how schools were dealing with COVID to help reassure kids nervous about heading back earlier this year as well as a song about the importance of voting.
While the song gets you pumped up for the black and gold, it also has a positive message.
Dr. Starkes thanks Coach Mike Tomlin for his leadership and points out one of his messages that rings true in football and in life.
“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.” Said Dr. Starkes. “It’s not about what your capable of but what you’re willing to do.”
“Every rap I perform has my students at the heart of it. 10-0 is an inspirational rap to remind the students that even though the win may not be pretty i.e. virtual learning vs. the brick n mortar setting- they are still expected to do their best work and achieve,” Dr. Starkes told 93.7 The Fan. “Teamwork and perseverance will always win even during these tumultuous times.”
Tuesday is black and gold day for all Pittsburgh Public Schools.
