Chukwuma Okorafor says something he said got him benched.
He wouldn't get into what he said, but we have a report that may shed some light on the situation.
According to DK Sports' Dejan Kovacevic, Okorafor audible suggested late in the fourth quarter they just take a knee and the loss against Jacksonville.
Head Coach Mike Tomlin reportedly heard the comment.
There was less than two minutes left and the Steelers were down 10 points at the time.
They ended up losing 20 – 10.
"If I knew what was going to happen, I wouldn't have said or done it," Okorafor said earlier this week. "There is nothing I can do, just take it day-by-day."
"I can see that pissing off Mike Tomlin . . . until the last whistle, until the clock hits zero, thinks that he's going to be in a football game and that's just how he's wired," said Dorin Dickerson on The Fan Morning Show.
Dickerson adds he doesn't know if that comment would be enough to bench the player but Tomlin may have taken the opportunity to start rookie Broderick Jones.
"The way he said it has to matter here," said Adam Crowley. "The tone, the tenor, that has to matter and if he acknowledged that when Mike Tomlin said it was significant what he said when he said, Chuks did, in his media availability this week, that would have me thinking that the language had to have been pretty harsh."
Okorafor said he doesn't know if he'll get another start.
"Day-by-day, I can't really speak as to what is going to happen next week or in two weeks," Okorafor said of how he's handling the situation. "At this point, I'm just trying to help out Broderick. He's played a couple of games, he's played well. (I'll help) If I see something I can help with."
