PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He was a player that came in with a lot of promise, tremendous athletic ability, but DeMarvin Leal just never seemed to find a fit in the Steelers defense and various national reports he was released on Tuesday.

It appeared when the Steelers drafted Leal in the third round in 2022 they were getting a playmaker. His final season at Texas A&M (he was a junior) he finished fifth in the SEC with 8.5 sacks and had 12.5 tackles for loss. He had a seven-tackle game against Alabama, six against Auburn, a sack against LSU.

He would start a pair of games his rookie season and four his second year, but moving from defensive end to defensive tackle just didn’t seem like a fit. Leal also battled a couple of injuries during his three years with the team, three different times going on injured reserve. In 28 games, 33 tackles, one sack, three tackles for loss

This year they moved him to outside linebacker and there was a thought with the injuries to Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig that he could catch on there, but going into the final year of his rookie deal the team reportedly parted ways.
